Circular Performing Arts Festival

7th edition
Vila do Conde is a meeting place that not only brings performing arts and the audience closer, but also artistic creation and experimentation. In its 7th edition, Circular Performing Arts Festival presents new creations, most of them in its world premiere, as an outcome of very close relationships set up between the creators and the festival´s organization. The works presented in this edition approach different artistic language and display several artistic forms, ranging from contemporary dance to music or from performance art to visual art. Several projects were actually developed in Vila do Conde, as a result of invitations made by the festival´s organization or through other projects co produced by the festival. By enhancing the town´s resources, Circular supports artist in residence programmes all year long and follows closely the development of artistic work processes.
This edition is also marked by the partnerships established with Estaleiro, which is a project of training and cultural programming developed by Curtas Metragens CRL, and with Serralves Foundation, through the Improvisations/Collaborations Series. This partnership was materialized in the co production and support of two events which are part of the programme for the festival. These partnerships expand the range of action of the festival itself, by bringing closer everyone involved in the process and crossing audiences, which not only reflects complicity and shared interests in the contemporary art discourse but also reveals awareness of the importance of collaborative work. Circular also makes way for dialogue and reflexion by inviting the audience to participate in talks after some of the shows, because, after all, the real contibution to the Festival is the audience´s.
