Collaboration is a common and transversal practice to several artistic areas during the creation process, and multiple are the directions that emerge and are promoted by the individual contributions that exponentiate the creation of the proposed work, but that also simultaneously contribute to the advancement of art, and the art of each single person involved in the process.
ON / OFF is the result of a collaborative process of creation/composition by hand and eye of the team members involved. It is, merely and only, a vision and reflection that encompasses several perceptions about a vision of the present space that surrounds us. The creative process facilitated an exploration of ideas and elements that were worked on and organized among themselves in a structural manner, with the aim of creating a solid and correlative discourse between music and image. During the performance, throughout indeterminate periods of time, AI systems alongside musicians, contribute to what can be a reference of vision and perspectivist time-travelling. Spread across the performative space, a chamber of ego goes on and off, as if it was seen and heard. We compute the future by going back in time, through models and records of us making up possible videography.

- Workshop Criação musical colectiva with José Alberto Gomes e João Tiago Dias | Conservatório de Música de Vila do Conde (more information soon available)
For students of the Conservatório de Música de Vila do Conde
Supernova Ensemble was created to serve an international community dedicated to innovative music in performative, new media and sonic arts context, wherever it is found.
With an adventurous goal, it will commission new artists, performances and pieces in a new work context to develop and serve new audiences. Supernova Ensemble pretends to build a world in which powerful new sonic ideas flow freely across genres and media.
Its unique and distinctive programming includes music, musical theater works, dance, video projects, chamber music, ensemble and sound installations.
The program will be based on the regular invitation of outstanding artistic personalities from all artistic genres (not only music composers) that want to work with sound. As such the project is oriented towards the execution of original works, where the ensemble is adjusted to the needs of the artist(s) and the art work and not the opposite. This flexibility is possible through a dynamic formation between the core group and a larger formation or even allowing the introduction of invited participants through a network of close artists.
An artistic and musical diverse background (jazz, classical, modern, improv, experimental, musical, new media, technological,...) of the ensemble with different and specific abilities to serve the artistic need of the artistic creation in the direct performance of a score, a guided or improvised interpretation and performance, support in creation, the transition from ideas to the instrument or the consolidation of ideas.
Supernova Ensemble is based in the north of Portugal as an independent artistic project incubated in the Circular’s Resident Artist project.
Circular, with headquarters in Vila do Conde, promotes annually, since 2005, the Circular Festival of Performing Arts and since 2012, the project Resident Artist. The Circular - Cultural Association has the central objectives of its activity: disseminating contemporary performing arts, bringing performing arts closer to audiences and the local context, supporting artistic creation, and providing reflection on contemporary artistic practices. The Circular Festival of Performing Arts proposes the presentation and dissemination of performative proposals of an experimental nature, in a close relationship with the creative processes. The Festival presents creations that cover different artistic areas such as contemporary dance, performance, theater, music and visual arts. Seeking to establish a dialogue close to the artistic community that also affects the relationship with the local context and its audiences, the Circular promotes and supports the development of local artistic residencies.
The Resident Artist project aims to explore a close relationship between the Circular association and its associated artists. The Resident Artist program carries out local intervention projects developed by the artists and supports the dissemination and production of their creations. The Circular has been supported by the Municipality of Vila do Conde since its first edition, and the consecutive funding from the Portuguese Republic Culture / Direção Geral for the Arts.
